Ok, so I’ve been reading some articles on why I should stop using shampoo. I’m not doing it because I think chemicals are being soaked into my skin, or because I’m desperate to save one more plastic bottle (even though, I think it’s great that I’ll be using less waste), I’m doing it because I am so freakin’ tired of having nasty, greasy, oily, limp, clumpy hair!
That’s right, my hair sucks. It’s sucked ever since I went through puberty some decade ago. So today I started. I used 1 tbsp of baking soda in hot water, and scrubbed my scalp very well to get the pores clean. I left it in while I finished bathing. Then I rinsed it out very well. I don’t have apple-cider vinegar at the moment to balance it out. (You mix 1-2 tbsp for 1 cup of water. Then you would rinse the ends of the hair, to help keep the hair not so dry). When I do get the vinegar, I’ll probably only use it twice a week, just to balance the ph in the baking soda. Other than that, I’m going to get a healthy conditioner to apply to the ends for all the other days.
I’ve been warned though. My hair is probably going to look like poop for a good month or two while the oils in my hair readjust to the new routine. Apparently shampoo just drys the scalp out so much, that the scalp over compensates by making more oil than needed. Hence why I always have greasy nasty hair! So anyway, I’m willing to have gross hair for a while.
Solution?: Braids, Updos, Hats & Scarfs.
Hope my hair gets healthy real soon!

I have the exact same problem with my hair! I had stopped using shampoo, but I was terrible about getting baking soda out before I took a shower so my mom made me use shampoo again. (Just passing through on this random post, by the way.)
